Moscow, Russia: prices of Polish apples down by a third year-on-year

The Russian market participants say of a decrease in prices of Polish apples offered in Moscow by a third compared with the mid-July 2013.

For the present, Gloster apples of Polish origin are sold in Moscow at 0.68-0.72 euro/kg, a decrease of 27-30% year-on-year.

Prices of Idared apples vary between 0.56-0.70 euro/kg, a decrease of 27-37% compared with the same period of the previous season.

It should be noted that Poland is the leading supplier of apples to the Russian market. In the period from July 2013 to May 2014, the Russian Federation imported 479,000 tons of Polish apples. Thus, Poland accounted for the share of almost 50% of Russia's total apple imports.
