Russia: prices of high-quality potatoes up

According to Fruit-Inform, Russian growers have been raising prices for high-quality potatoes.

Potatoes have become 13-17% more expensive over a week in Russia. For the present, growers fix prices at RUB 7-9/kg (USD 0.18-0.21/kg) with prices reaching RUB 10/kg (USD 0.26/kg) in the southern regions of the country. An increase in prices is registered thanks to higher demand for potatoes from the side of wholesale companies.

It should be noted that potato prices were averagely 25% lower in the same period of the previous season. More detailed information about the Russian potato market, production and import trends will be presented at the 7th International Conference «Fruit & Vegetable Business of Russia-2014», which is to be held on September 16, in conjunction with the largest food exhibition in Russia WorldFood Moscow 2014.
