Poland: prices of Idared apples the lowest over past 5 years
Current prices fixed by Polish growers for Idared apples (0.07-0.11 euro/kg) take just a third of the price levels registered in the same period of the previous season and are the lowest over the past 5 years.
Such a sharp fall in prices is registered due to the ban on imports of European foodstuffs introduced by Russia, as Polish Idared apples have previously been rather popular in the Russian Federation.
In addition, the situation is aggravated by record high production of Idared variety in Poland this year. We would remind you that WAPA experts expect Polish Idared apple production to reach 750,000 tons this year, an increase of 7% year-on-year and the highest result over the past 10 years.
