Russia’s plum imports down in October

According to the official statistics, Russia’s plum imports have gone down by 85% in October 2014 compared with the same month of the previous year. The import volumes totaled just 2,000 tons against 13,000 tons in October 2013.

A fall in imports was registered due to lack of exports from the EU and Moldova to Russia. It should be noted that the Republic of Moldova and the EU countries accounted for 85% of Russia’s total plum imports in October last year.

Russia’s cumulative imports of plums over the period from January to October 2014 totaled 41,000 tons, a decrease of 2% year-on-year.
