USD price decrease rates of Polish apples higher than those of Ukrainian ones

Polish apple prices in USD have fallen 2.5 times over a year. Current average price of fresh apples of Polish origin does not exceed $0.16/kg against standing at $0.45/kg in the same period of the previous season. A year-on-year fall in prices is registered due to the ban on imports of Polish foodstuffs introduced by Russia, the country which has previously purchased up to 25% of all apples annually grown in Poland. It should also be noted that current price level in Poland is one of the lowest over the past 5 years with the previous record low average level to be registered in the season 2012/13: $0.42/kg.

For comparison, apple prices in USD in Ukraine have gone down just by 60% due to the devaluation of the Ukrainian hryvnia. However, despite that, Ukrainian apples are still twice as expensive as Polish ones. It should also be noted that prices of Ukrainian apples in UAH are averagely 35% higher year-on-year notwithstanding the ban on imports of Ukrainian fruits and vegetables also introduced by Russia.
