Ukraine: carrot prices grow the most year-on-year among traditional vegetables

Carrot prices have shown the sharpest year-on-year growth among traditional vegetables in Ukraine.

According to Fruit-Inform, carrots became twice as expensive as registered in March 2014. Furthermore, carrot prices started growing in December 2014, while growth in the season 2013/14 had been registered just in early April.

Table beets rank second, as their prices have increased by 30% compared with the same period of the previous year.

At the same time, white cabbage prices are stable year-on-year, onions became 20-25% less expensive, and current potato prices take just a half of those registered a year before.

However, it should be noted that prices of traditional vegetables in the US dollars have sharply gone down year-on-year: last year's prices of carrots and table beets were 1.5 and 2.2 times as high as current ones, prices of white cabbage fell 3.3 times, current onion prices take just a fourth of those registered a year before, and potatoes have become 6.5 times less expensive.
