Ukraine: Crimean strawberry season starts with delay

The Crimean berry market participants say of arrival of first quantities of strawberries this week, according to Fruit-Inform.

It should be noted that the campaign has started with a 10 day delay compared with the previous season due to cold and rainy spring.

Sales are now reported by several farms, which offer strawberries in small volumes at RUB 450-500/kg (USD 7.13-8.92/kg), an increase of 50-100% compared with the second half of April 2014.

Farmers expect larger volumes of Crimean produce to arrive in the market only after May holidays, and prices will most likely be relatively stable until more active supply.

More detailed information about the Ukrainian strawberry market developments and outlook will be presented at the 6th International Conference «Berries of Ukraine-2015: Frozen Produce & Fresh Market». The conference will be held on May 21-22, 2015, Kiev, Ukraine.
