Armenia significantly raises apricot exports

Armenia has more than quintupled apricot exports in 2015. According to Ministry of Agriculture of Armenia, the country exported about 10,000 tons of apricots as of the end of June against just 1,800 tons in the same period of the previous season

Russia accounted for the largest share in Armenia's total apricot exports. Kazakhstan, Belarus, Georgia and Uzbekistan were among largest post-Soviet buyers too. Apricots were also shipped to the UAE, Norway, Austria and Switzerland.

According to Fruit-Inform, Armenia enters the group of top five exporters of apricots to Russia and was the leading supplier in 2013 after the export volumes had reached 20,000 tons.

Fruit-Inform analysts believe that Armenia stands a good chance to raise apricot exports to Russiain this season thanks to the ban on imports of European foodstuffs introduced by that country.
