Ukrainian apple season in 2015: price growth under conditions of an increase in production
Ukrainian apple growers expect the new season to be more successful in sales than the previous one. The majority of farms plan to harvest more apples than a year ago and are sure that prices will be higher year-on-year. Growers' expectations are based on higher number of orders received from domestic and Russian wholesalers. In addition, processors are interested in purchasing apples for processing.
The market analysts believe that such expectations stand a good chance to come true. The demand for Ukrainian apples has been relatively high both in the internal market and Russia within the whole previous season resulting in a steady increase in apple prices from October to record high levels in the end of the season. In 2015 prices of first volumes of early apples will most likely be higher year-on-year thanks to Russian middlemen's demand and relatively high prices for other seasonal fruits.
