Poland: apple exporters expand export geography due to Russia's ban

Polish exporters had to significantly expand their export geography in view of Russia's ban on imports of European foodstuffs, said Ms. Malgorzata Gawin, Representative of Embassy of Poland to Ukraine, at the 5th International Conference «Apple Business of Ukraine-2015».

«Poland has recently increased its apple exports to Egypt, UAE, Mongolia, Turkey, Azerbaijan, Saudi Arabia, Hong Kong, Kuwait, Kyrgyzstan and other countries», said she. «Exports to those countries have grown by 35.8% over the first five months of the current year and reached 51,400 tons».

She also added that both Polish government and exporters were interested in maintaining positive trends in the apple sector development. As a result, Polish exporters plan to open the US and Vietnamese markets in the nearest time.
