Ukraine: Crimean farms raise plum prices thanks to lower imports

Crimean growers managed to raise their plum prices thanks to lower shipments of Moldovan and Ukrainian produce.

Now local farms offer plums at RUB 65-70/kg (USD 0.86-0.93/kg), depending on variety, quality and fruit size, while a week before prices often fell to RUB 50/kg (USD 0.66/kg).

Moreover, the price growth is backed by still limited local supply. It should also be noted that current prices of local plums are 2.5-3 times as high as in the same period of the previous season.

However, many market participants expect prices to start decreasing in the following week due to more active harvesting expected in Crimea.
