Polish farmers choose asparagus, broccoli and sweet corn for potato

The site eBronisze.pl informs that potato cultivation areas tend to reduce in the country, although this is one of the major crops of the produce business in Poland. Potato acreage has reduced almost twice during the seven recent years. This situation is mostly preconditioned by the changing preferences of the consumers, and also labor-intensive production and complicated storage.

At the same time, asparagus cultivation areas have doubled in the recent 10 years in Poland; Polish farmers sell this crop on the inner market and actively export asparagus abroad. During the recent three years the acreage of bell pepper and broccoli has grown 60%, sweet corn acreage has increased 40%, asparagus bean acreage has been extended 20%.

According to the data provided by ""Agrooglyad: Vegetables and Fruits" journal", the cultivation areas of sweet corn and broccoli are also being actively extended in Ukraine. However, the production volumes of these crops have not been comparable yet with the production volumes of sweet corn and broccoli in Poland. Asparagus is still not very popular both among the consumers and the producers in Ukraine; talking about potato, its cultivation areas are relatively stable in our country.
