Ukrainian fresh produce price index up

Fruit-Inform Ukrainian fresh produce price index went up by 7.2% in the week from September 22nd to 26th, after a decrease of 12.5% over the previous three weeks. The negative price performance is connected with the end of sales of seasonal products and the start of the price growth in the segment of greenhouse vegetables. It should be noted that fruit and vegetable prices went down by 5.3% in September 2014, while in the same month of the previous year they had grown by 28.5%.

«Prices of greenhouse vegetables started growing last week that led to a decrease in their consumption in Ukraine», says Ms. Tetiana Getman, Head of Fruit-Inform. «At the same time, traditional vegetables became 1.5% less expensive thanks to lower prices of white cabbage and table beets».

Fruits also became more expensive due to a sharp increase in table grape prices. Other fluctuations in fruit prices only reflected the situation in the currency market, and prices of domestic apples were stable.

We would remind you that more detailed information about current developments in the Russian and Ukrainian fruit and vegetable market is available for the subscribers of Fruit-Inform service packages.
