Ukrainian fresh produce price index up last week

Fruit-Inform Ukrainian fresh produce price index went up by 1.2% in the week from October 11th to 17th, after a decrease of 3.6% a week before. Thus, fruit and vegetable prices keep on fluctuating in October due to the inter-season period and mixed situation in the market.

«The price fluctuations were regularly registered in the market, even in the segment of traditional vegetables: prices of white cabbage, table beets and carrots went down, while onions became more expensive last week», says Ms. Tetiana Getman, Head of Fruit-Inform. «Prices of imported fruits decreased, and greenhouse vegetables became more expensive thanks to closer end of the domestic season».

More active exports of Ukrainian vegetables (mainly onions) to Russia should also be noted. Competitive prices and high quality of Ukrainian products turned out to be more important for Russian buyers than political tensions between the countries.

We would remind you that more detailed information about current developments in the Russian and Ukrainian fruit and vegetable market is available for the subscribers of Fruit-Inform service packages.
