Kazakhstan doubles imports of Dutch pears

The Netherlands have been rapidly increasing pear exports to Kazakhstan under conditions of Russia's ban on imports.

According to the official statistics, Kazakhstan has doubled imports of Dutch pears over the first 7 months of the season 2014/15. The import volumes totaled 2,400 tons in July 2014 – January 2015 against standing at just slightly more than 1,000 tons in the same period of the previous season.

Nevertheless, despite an increase in exports, the Netherlands were still the third largest exporter of pears to Kazakhstan.

We would remind you that the Netherlands were the leader in pear exports to Russia in the season 2013/14 with the share of 23% in Russia's total imports. However, Russia introduced a 1-year ban on imports of foodstuffs (inclusive of fruits) from the EU, USA, Australia, Canada and Norway in August 2014.
