Ukraine: apple imports up in February

Ukraine has significantly raised apple imports in February 2015 compared with the same month of the previous year.

According to the official statistics, Ukraine's imports totaled 10,000 tons, more than 8 times as high as registered in February 2014, when the import volumes stood at 1,200 tons.

The market analysts connect such a sharp rise in imports with large volumes of re-exports of Polish apples to Russia. We would remind you that Ukraine has both exported record high volumes of domestic apples and significantly raised re-exports of imported ones with Crimea as the main re-export channel.
