Crimean farmers forced to intensify vegetable sales due to electricity problems

Regular power outages in Crimea negatively affect the quality of fruits and vegetables in storage, according to Fruit-Inform.

Crimean farms say of broken temperature conditions in storage facilities due to power outages; therefore, the quality of produce has started sharply worsening.

«Power outages are registered every day, and they often are off-schedule», comments a Crimean grower. «As a result, we are unable to meet temperature conditions in storehouses and have already observed worsened quality of our produce».

Farmers expect to intensify their sales in the nearest time; therefore, the local fruit and vegetable season will most likely end earlier than planned before.

Fruit-Inform analysts have already started observing such a situation in the Crimean carrot segment. Farmers have intensified their carrot sales this week in view of rapidly worsening quality of their stocks. As a result, carrot prices have fallen by almost 10% in Crimea since the beginning of this week.
