Strawberry supply significantly up in Crimea

Crimean growers have reported of more active shipments of strawberries this week, according to Fruit-Inform, and growing supply has already started exerting significant pressure on prices.

Now growers are ready to ship their strawberries at RUB 330-370/kg (USD 4.69-5.25/kg), depending on variety and shipment volume, a decrease of a third week-on-week. For comparison, a week before, prices of first small volumes of Crimean strawberries averaged RUB 500/kg (USD 7.10/kg).

The Crimean strawberry season started averagely a week earlier than last year. We would remind you that first Crimean strawberries arrived in the market in the last week of April 2015 and were offered at prices 32-36% higher than current levels.
