Poland: onion prices reach almost 7-year low
Onion prices have almost reached their 7-year low in Poland, according to FreshMarket.
For the present, Polish growers offer their onions at 0.11-0.14 euro/kg. For comparison, prices were averagely 33% higher in the end of August 2015.
The market analysts connect such a situation with rather low demand for produce shown by exporters. According to them, onion production in other European countries (main export markets for Polish onions) is rather high this year; therefore, Polish exports are not high. Meanwhile, the supply of onions continues to grow in Poland.
