Crimean sellers sharply raise cucumber prices

Cucumbers have become sharply more expensive since the beginning of this week, according to Fruit-Inform.

Current prices of cucumbers vary between RUB 70-100.лп (USD 1.20-1.70/kg), depending on variety and quality. For comparison, prices were 42% lower in the first half of the week.

Sellers connect such a situation with feverish demand for cucumbers in the Crimean market against a background of limited supply. Russian farms’ shipments have been gradually decreasing, while local farms’ outputs are still rather low. We would remind you that many Crimean greenhouse centers decided not to grow cucumbers this year due to an increase in production costs and lack of resources.

It should also be noted that current prices of cucumbers in Crimean are already 10% higher year-on-year.
