Ukraine: fruit and vegetable price growth slows down

Fruit-Inform Ukrainian fresh produce price index has grown by another 1.9% last week (October 22-28), after a jump of 14.5% a week before. As a result, fruits and vegetables have become 27.4% more expensive in Ukraine in October.

Thanks to an increase of 3.4% in prices, greenhouse vegetables again made the largest contribution to a rise in the fresh produce price index last week. Meanwhile, positive trend was registered only in the segment of cucumbers, while tomato prices went down due to a sharp decrease in exporters’ demand.

Prices of traditional vegetables decreased by 2.3% week-on-week thanks to less expensive carrots and white cabbage. Meanwhile, potato prices grew.

At the same time, fruit prices stabilized last week thanks to steady supply and demand balance and rather active sales.
