Azerbaijan boosts horticultural exports

Mr. Ilham Aliyev, President of Azerbaijan, said of a year-over-year upward trend in the value of Azerbaijani fruit and vegetable exports in 2017, reports Interfax-Azerbaijan.

Tomatoes were the leading export category with their exports totaling $151 mln in 2017, a rise of 60% against the previous year, followed by hazelnuts (+9% to $114 mln) and persimmons (+32% to $91 mln). Exports of apples totaled $31 mln, showing a year-over-year increase of 35%.

A sharp increase was also reported with regards to onion exports, which amounted to $15 mln. Potato exports remained stable at about $26 mln.

As it was mentioned previously, the exports of non-oil products in Azerbaijan exceeded $1.5 bln in 2017, a third of which accounted for fruits and vegetables.
