The largest complex on lettuce handling and packing is opened in Kyiv suburb

Today a new produce processing complex of OLVITA company was officially opened in village Schastlivoye, Boryspil rayon, Kyiv oblast. The complex let the company introduce a brand new product for Ukraine - fresh-cut ready to eat lettuces and salad mixes in convenient consumer packs. New facility will also significantly increase the efficiency and quality of fresh salads packing. The ceremony was conducted under participation of Dr. R. Keller, the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Netherlands in Ukraine, and the representatives of Kyiv Oblast Administration.

The creation of this complex is a result of the successful cooperation of Dutch and Ukrainian governments, building contractors, suppliers of seeds and raw materials, implementation of "know-how" ideas, expertise and technologies, trade chains, and, personally, OLVITA personnel. The joint success of "salad project" in Ukraine is the first link in the chain of the implementation of the logistic program focused at the distribution of handled fresh fruits and vegetables.

The total area of OLVITA enterprise is 3.2 ha. New highly-technological enterprise occupies the area of 1.4 ha. It includes the storage complex for 1,000 tons of fresh produce, refrigerating cold chamber, the workshop for the preliminary processing of raw materials, freezing tunnel of more than 4 tons/hour capacity, and also the workshop for handling and storage chamber for 2,000 tons of ready frozen commodities. At the present moment a unique cold chamber of 10,000 tons capacity is in the process of construction.

Just after the opening ceremony the international methodological seminar organized by OLVIA GROUP started in the new complex. The seminar was dedicated to the analysis of the investment climate in Ukrainian agricultural sector; such well-known companies as Rijk Zwaan, Elliert, METRO Cash & Carry, IFC, Agricultural Marketing Project and others participated in the seminar.

We'd like to mention that this week, for the second time already, OLVITA company has decided to be a sponsor of the third international conference "Fruits and Vegetables of Ukraine 2006. Open Market" to be held on December 5th - 6th 2006 on the territory of the National Complex "Expocenter of Ukraine" in Kyiv. According to the plans, Yuri Boguslavskiy, the Director of OLVITA company will present a report on the perspectives of the wholesale trade development for fresh produce commodities. He also wants to share his experience of the creation and development of Ukrainian lettuce market, and to tell the perspectives of cooperation with OLVITA company.

We remind that around two weeks are left by the end of registration of the conference participants.
