Ukraine: Animal production rose against last year

Over the first seven months of 2002 livestock and poultry sales in live weight increased 6.7 percent against the same period of 2001, reaching 1.267 million tons. Milk production rose 6 percent and totaled 8.6 million tons. Eggs were produced 7.239 billion, which was 16.2 percent over January-July 2001 period.

Agrarian Ministry forecasts meat production in 2002 to be 21 percent over 2001, and milk - 1 percent up.
