Armenia's fruit and vegetable exports significantly up

Armenia's fruit and vegetable exports exceeded 17,000 tons as on April 17th, 2014, according to the Press Service of the Ministry of Agriculture of Armenia.

The report states: “As on April 17th, Armenians exporters shipped 17,319 tons of fresh fruits and vegetables against 5,302 tons in the same period of the previous year.”

Russia, Georgia, Iraq and the UAE are the major importers of Armenian produce.

According to the official statistical data, Armenia's fresh fruit and vegetable exports totaled 60,100 tons as on December 12, 2013. The highest export increase rate was registered in the segment of apricots, which exports almost doubled year-on-year to 23,000 tons.

Armenian exporters also shipped 6,800 tons of grapes, 980 tons of peaches, 633 tons of apples, 610 tons of sour cherries, 20,500 tons of potatoes and almost 7,000 tons of vegetables last year.
