Ukrainian fresh produce price index up by 16% last week

Fruit-Inform Ukrainian fresh produce price index went up by 16% in the week from April 12th to 18th, after chaotic price trends a week before, that negatively affected produce consumption volumes in Ukraine.

“A significant increase in the price index is connected with 49.4% higher prices of traditional vegetables registered due to lower stocks of high-quality produce and a decrease in imports”, says Ms. Tetiana Getman, Head of Fruit-Inform. “In addition, potatoes also became 17.8% more expensive last week”.

Fruit prices went up due to the devaluation of the Ukrainian hryvnia. Greenhouse tomatoes were the only product that became less expensive thanks to higher production outputs and lower exports to Russia.
