Russia: apple prices stable despite ban

Russia's ban on apple imports from Moldova and Poland still had no effect on apple prices in the country. For the present, prices of domestic apples vary between RUB 15-25/kg (USD 0.41-0.68/kg), and imported apples are offered at RUB 30-60/kg (USD 0.82-1.63/kg). Thus, the price levels changed slightly week-on-week.

Russian wholesale companies connect the price stability with a gradual increase in the supply of domestic apples and active sales of stocks of produce imported in the second half of July. The market operators also say of still moderate demand for apples, as buyers now prefer stonefruits, melons and watermelons.

We would remind you that more detailed information about the Eastern European apple market developments and outlook will be presented at the 4th International Conference “Apple Business of Ukraine-2014”. The conference will be held on August 14-15, 2014, Feride Plaza, Vinnytsia, Ukraine. More detailed information about the event is available on the official web-site.
