Polish exporters' demand for pears up

Polish growers say of a significant increase in pear sales for export in the second half of August.

In the middle of August, exporters' demand still was rather low, and farmers were not able to ship significant volumes for export. For the present, Polish growers have already started active harvesting of pears that enables to start sales for export (to the CIS countries in particular).

Russia was the main export market for Polish pears before introduction of the ban on fruit and vegetable imports from the EU, so Polish growers hope to partially compensate a loss of the key market by an increase in shipments to other countries.

We would remind you that Ukraine, Belarus and Kazakhstan also were significant importers of Polish pears.
