Russia: prices of imported apples a third higher year-on-year

Prices of imported apples have been growing in Russia with current levels being already a third higher year-on-year.

For the present, Serbian apples are offered at RUB 55-60/kg (USD 1.38-1.50/kg), an increase of 10% week-on-week and about 30% higher compared with the same period of the previous season.

Meanwhile, Chilean and Argentinean apples are offered at RUB 60-90/kg (USD 1.50-2.25/kg), while a week before prices were not higher than RUB 80/kg (USD 2/kg). Compared with the previous season, current price levels are 25-30% higher.

Such a price situation is connected with both an increase in apple prices in producing countries and high demand for Serbian, Chilean and Argentinean apples in Russia thanks to the ban on imports from the EU and Moldova.
