Ukraine sharply raises apple exports to Russia in August

Ukraine's exports of apples to the Russian Federation in August 2014 were 11 times as high as in the previous month.

The export volumes stood at 3,000 tons, 4 times as high as in August 2013.

As a result, Ukraine was the fifth largest exporter of apples to Russia in August 2014, while in summer 2013 it had ranked just 11th.

The market analysts connect such a sharp increase in Ukrainian exports with Russia's ban on imports from Poland and Moldova. Moreover, Ukrainian apples are competitive with domestic produce in Russia both in prices and quality.
