Moscow, Russia: prices of Argentine pears slightly up year-on-year

Prices of Argentine pears have gone up just by 10% year-on-year in Moscow, Russia, despite sharp devaluation of the Russian ruble.

For the present, Argentine pears are offered at 1.39-1.95 euro/kg, depending on variety and quality, with Conference pears offered at maximum prices. For comparison, prices were not higher than 1.82 euro/kg in the same period of the previous season.

It should be noted that Argentina is the second after China largest pear exporter to Russia thanks to the ban on imports from the EU. In the first 5 months of the season 2014/15, the Russian Federation imported 13,000 tons of Argentine pears, and Argentina accounted for 19% of Russia's total pear imports over that period.
