Crimea, Ukraine: apple prices almost twice as high as last year

Current prices of apples at Krymskiy Privoz Wholesale Market, Simferopol, Crimea, Ukraine, are almost twice as high as registered in the end of February 2014.

Now local apples are sold at RUB 25-60/kg (USD 0.40-0.96/kg), depending on variety and quality. For comparison, a year before prices were not higher than RUB 35/kg (USD 0.56/kg). It should also be noted that apple prices have been growing since the beginning of the season in Crimea.

The Crimean market participants connect positive price performance with high demand for their apples in Russia.
