Poland: apple prices gradually go down over past 5 years

Current average prices of fresh apples in Poland take just a third of those registered 5 years ago.

Apples were sold averagely at 0.55 euro/kg in the season 2010/11 against reaching just 0.19 euro/kg in the season 2014/15. Furthermore, the sharpest year-on-year fall in prices (down 2.5 times) was registered in the current season due to introduction of the ban on imports of European foodstuffs in Russia, the main export market for Polish apples before 2014.

Nevertheless, prices of Polish apples were gradually going down averagely by 10% over the previous 4 seasons. A decrease in prices was connected with growth in Polish apple production: according to WAPA, production of apples has grown by 70% since 2010 in Poland.
