Plum prices up in southern regions of Russia

Growers from the southern regions of Russian have been raising their plum prices. Now they offer plums at RUB 40-45/kg (USD 0.54-0.61/kg), depending on variety and quality, an increase of 13-14% week-on-week.

Growers connect positive price trend with currently rather limited supply of plums under conditions of high demand for them. The majority of farmers have already finished sales of early varieties, while later ones are now sold only by some farms.

It should also be noted that current prices of plums are 80-100% higher year-on-year. However, the market participants expect prices to go down in the following week in view of more active harvesting of later varieties.
