Ukrainian fresh produce price index up by more than a third over two weeks

Fruit-Inform Ukrainian fresh produce price index has jumped by 22.4% in the week from October 3rd to 9th. As a result, it has grown by 33.9% over the past two weeks.

«A sharp rise in the price index was registered due to jumps in prices of greenhouse cucumbers and tomatoes: +150% and +100%, respectively», says Ms. Tetiana Getman, Head of Fruit-Inform. «The price growth was connected with a cold spell and more active export shipments to Poland».

At the same time, prices of other fresh produce categories were relatively stable. Only white cabbage prices kept on going down due to growers' earlier start of harvesting in view of low quality of produce.

Fruit prices were stable. However, the market analysts expect significant changes in them due to arrival of a new crop in the Northern Hemisphere.

We would remind you that more detailed information about current developments in the Russian and Ukrainian fruit and vegetable market is available for the subscribers of Fruit-Inform service packages.
