Ukraine: fresh produce prices down last week

Fruit-Inform Ukrainian fresh produce price index has decreased by 0.1% in the week from October 31st to November 6th, after a rise of 61.6% over the previous two weeks.

«Cucumbers were the only fresh produce category, which prices went up last week. However, growth in cucumber prices was so significant that it almost fully compensated a decrease in prices of traditional vegetables and fruits», says Ms. Tetiana Getman, Head of Fruit-Inform.

As we have earlier expected, traditional vegetables have been becoming less expensive for the second week in a row after a sharp jump in their prices in October. A decrease in prices was registered last week due to lower demand for traditional vegetables and early start of imports. At the same time, it was also a an unpleasant sign for trading middlemen who had previously bought traditional vegetables at too high prices.

Fruit prices went down thanks to higher supply of a new citrus crop in Ukraine. At the same time, apple prices were stable in the majority of cases.

We would remind you that more detailed information about current developments in the Russian and Ukrainian fruit and vegetable market is available for the subscribers of Fruit-Inform service packages.
