Kazakhstani growers forced to reduce apple prices

Kazakhstani growers have to reduce their apple prices and are ready to ship their produce at prices already 10-15% lower year-on-year, according to Fruit-Inform.

In the first instance, negative pricing trend is connected with abundant supply of apples in the Kazakhstani market. Growers still offer early apples, which are unsuitable for long-term storage, and their prices vary between RUB 16-20/kg (USD 0.26-0.32/kg). Later varieties of apples are offered at RUB 32-45/kg (USD 0.51-0.72/kg), depending on variety and quality.

The situation is also aggravated by stable shipments of imported apples of Polish, Moldovan and Chinese origin. Meanwhile, farmers say of stable sales rates; therefore, a decrease in prices is not sharp.

More detailed information about the Kazakhstani apple market development and prospects will be presented at the 1st International Conference “Fruit & Vegetable Business in Kazakhstan-2016”, October 20-21, 2016, Holiday Inn Almaty.
