Ukrainian potato and vegetable suppliers successfully enter export markets

According to Fruit-Inform, in view of large available stocks of potatoes and traditional vegetables (onions, cabbage, beetroots, carrots), many Ukrainian growers faced problems with sales in the current season. Nevertheless, professional market participants paid particular attention to the quality of produce and its handling and made attempts to enter external markets.

For example, Ukrainian potatoes and vegetables have already been successfully exported to Russia, Moldova, Belarus, Georgia, Romania, Iraq, Bulgaria, Estonia, Macedonia, Armenia and South Korea. Furthermore, the Ukrainian export geography is expected to be significantly expanded in the second half of the season.

In such a way, up-to-date growing, harvesting, post-harvest handling, storage and packaging technologies turn out to be an urgent matter for leading Ukrainian growers and exporters that will take part in the 5th International Conference “Potatoes & Vegetables of Ukraine – 2013” on February 19-20, 2013, Kiev, Ukraine. The event will also be attended by domestic and foreign suppliers of machinery, equipment and inputs, as well as representatives of wholesale and retail trade.

For the moment, there are more than 70 delegates having confirmed their participation in the conference with about 50% of them represented by professional potato and vegetable growers.

We would remind you that the conference will start its work on February 19, 2013, President Hotel, Kiev, Ukraine. On the second conference day (February 20), there will be a practical business-tour to Faktor Konsalts company that is among leaders in handling and storage of potatoes and vegetables in Ukraine. The event is sponsored and supported by such global giants as DuPont and Bayer CropScience.
