Ukraine: apple exports historically low
Ukraine's apple exports were historically low in the first 7 months of the season 2013/14. They totaled just 8,500 tons, half of exports in the same period of the previous season.
Such a significant decrease in shipments is connected with lower exports to the Russian Federation, traditional leader in imports of Ukrainian apples. In particular, in July 2013 – January 2014 Russia imported just 8,000 tons of apples from Ukraine, almost half of imports a season ago. Exports went down due to high supply of domestic apples in the Russian Federation as well as large shipments from Poland.
