Ukraine: imports of grape juice record low
Ukraine imported just 1,800 tons of grape juice in July 2013 – January 2014, a decrease of 31% compared with the same period of the previous season and the lowest result over the past 9 years.
According to the official statistics, Italy's grape juice exports to Ukraine totaled just 280 tons, while a year ago they had been 4.4 times of the current volumes. In such a way, Italy was just the third largest exporter of grape juice to Ukraine over July 2013 – January 2014, while in the same period of the previous season Italy had been the leader.
Turkey was still the second largest supplier despite a decrease of 27% in exports to 305 tons.
Spain led in exports of grape juice to Ukraine in July 2013 – January 2014 thanks to an increase of 70% in shipments to 1,100 tons.
The market analysts connect such a sharp decrease in Ukraine's total imports with lower demand for grape juice in the country and abundant supply of juices in the country.
