Russia starts importing early onions
The Russian market participants say of arrival of first volumes of imported early onions this week, according to Fruit-Inform.
Now the supply of early produce is rather limited in the Russian Federation, and prices vary between RUB 30-35/kg (USD 0.42-0.49/kg).
It should be noted that there was no delay in the start of the season of imported early onions compared with a year before, and prices are similar to last year's levels. However, USD prices are averagely 18% lower year-on-year.
It should also be noted that Egypt is now the main supplier of early produce to Russia, while Turkey was the leader last year.
