Russian sour cherry season starts
Russian growers have started their sour cherry campaign this week, according to Fruit-Inform.
Now farms from the southern regions of the country ship their sour cherries at RUB 100-130/kg (USD 1.56-2.03/kg), a decrease of 18% compared with the beginning of the previous season, when prices reached their 6-year high.
Farmers have started their season with no delay compared with a year before and connect a year-on-year decrease in prices with higher sour cherry production in 2016. Sour cherry growers say of significantly lower losses due to drops in temperature in spring this year.
