Onion prices in Ukraine much lower than in Poland and Russia

Current prices of Ukrainian onions are much lower than those fixed by Polish and Russian growers. According to Fruit-Inform, they are 21-22% and 30-35% lower than in Poland and Russia, respectively.

In particular, now Ukrainian growers ship onions at UAH 2.20-3.50/kg (EUR 0.07-0.11/kg), depending on quality, sales region and shipment volume. Prices of Polish produce vary between EUR 0.09-0.14/kg. Meanwhile, Russian farmers offer their onions at RUB 7-12/kg (EUR 0.10-0.17/kg).

It should also be noted that prices are stable in the three countries but much higher than in the second half of November 2016. For comparison, prices have grown by 20% year-on-year in Russia, and Ukrainian growers offer their onions at prices 37% higher. The sharpest year-on-year rise in prices is registered in Poland: up by 50-60% compared with a year before.
