Ukraine: carrot prices twice as high as last year
Ukrainian farmers have managed to raise their carrot prices thanks to more active demand for them. As a result, carrots are now twice as expensive as in the same period of the past year, according to Fruit-Inform.
Current prices of Ukrainian carrots vary between UAH 3.00-4.50/kg (EUR 0.09-0.14/kg) and sometimes reach UAH 5.00-5.50/kg (EUR 0.09-0.14/kg). Therefore, a week-over-week increase in them stands at 20-22%.
According to Ukrainian market players, a rise in prices is caused by the trade rebound, as wholesale companies and retail chains had got down to filling up their stocks for sales during the New Year holidays.
