Ukrainian broilers to replace imported brothers

UNIAN correspondents reported that Ukrainian MinAP assured the Mar 22 conference that poultry import ban shall not lead to domestic poultry prices escalation.

Mr. Melnyk, chief of the Livestock and Poultry Market Department of the MinAP announced that in 2002 broiler production will twofold. "Thus we will be able to fill the gap of poultry production without importing this commodity from US which is banned now", he said.

Moreover, according to him, imported poultry was mainly drumsticks, neck, skin and back parts of chicken. Breasts, the most valuable of chicken were not imported".
