Cool weather in Ukraine will not damage late cabbage and root crops

Cold snap observed in Ukraine would not affect the harvesting of late cabbage and root crops, according to the information provided by Tatyana Lesiv, the Agronomist of Lviv office, Agricultural Marketing Project.

Till recently the soil was very dry, so the agricultural producers of Lviv oblast worried much about the possibility to complete autumn sowing before the end of September. The rain of September 18th in the region was very helpful.

This year, according to the prognosis of the Agricultural Marketing Project (AMP) the cabbage production will excess 15-18% the average level of the recent 6 years; however, the harvested volumes may be 5% less than a year ago. Comparing to the previous year the production of potato is expected to decrease 17-20%; the production of carrot will decrease too.
