Paying for livestock

APK-Inform reported that the government finally paid farmers the premium for overweight beef cattle sold in 2001. The AIC Department of Animal Husbandry and Markets Chief Yuriy Melnyk said that the debt of the government accumulated in 2001 reached US $7.5mn and was paid in full as of Apr 16.

On the other hand, not all problems have been resolved already. In particular, both private individuals and businesses did not always present receipts for cattle sold in due time to the inspectors locally. Such receipts as a result piled up for the amount of US $362,000.

"We submitted these issues to the Ministry of Finance and the Cabinet asking to cover last year's debt through this year's funds", said Melnyk.

What the outcome will be nobody knows but at least the AIC Ministry tries its best to pay the debt to the farmer.
