Cattle plague in Ukraine decreased
UNIAN reported quoting the State Statistics Ministry that for the last four months in 2002 Ukrainian cattle plague decreased to certain extent from a year ago the same period.
It is reported that livestock farming businesses showed 0.1% decrease in pig plague and added up to 2.8% of the total production, goats and sheep plague decreased 0.2% making up 1.5% of the total production, beef and diary cattle plague remained unchanged showing 0.5% of the total production.
The largest livestock plague scenario was seen in Kirovohrad and Poltava Oblasts, pig plague - in Ivano-Frankivsk and Zhytomyr, whereas goats and sheep plague - in Kirovohrad and Zaporizhizhia Oblasts.
Farms also showed increase in selling to individuals the following: young chicken increased twice over Jan-Apr period of 2001, piglet sales increased by 4%. Young livestock sales dropped by 8%.
