Ukraine prohibited imports of beef from Israel

Ukrainian State Customs Service sent a letter to regional customs offices ordering to prohibit imports of beef from Israel as a result of mad cow disease detected in this country.

Peter Verbytsky, Chief State Inspector of Veterinary Medicine, informed customs of a case of cattle affection with spongiform encephalopathy, known as a "mad cow disease" that was registered in Israel by International Epizootic Bureau. Due to that beef and beef products will be prohibited for import from Israel to Ukraine.

Other products and raw material from this country are to be imported into Ukraine in accordance with veterinary requirements and under control of State Veterinary Medicine Service.
