Ukraine returned grain traders $6mln VAT debt

State Customs Administration of Ukraine returned grain traders in July around US$6 million of VAT debt, Vice-Prime-Minister for Agriculture Leonid Kozachenko told journalists Thursday. According to him repayment of VAT debt is going on according to previously developed schedules.

In early June government had promised exporters to solve the issue of VAT debt repayment. Customs Administration was entrusted to develop schedules for such repayment, depending on the debt size, export-ing company's activity and other factors.

Ukrainian grain exporting companies had declared their intend to lower their purchasing prices by 20 percent in the near term unless the government would solve the issue of VAT refund.

According to Kozachenko, state indebtedness to agricultural exporters for VAT due to re-fund is around $188 million, of which about $94 is the sum, owed to exporters of grain.
